A QUOTE FROM THE COMMENTS - "As a professional mariner, I find the idea that the Russian Arctic Passage will be a significant seaway for large merchant vessels in our lifetime highly unlikely. While for a few months of the year it’s sometimes possible as it has been for nearly a century to transit with icebreaker assistance it’s not a reliable economical commercial option. Almost all of its current traffic are vessels servicing the Russian Arctic ports with an occasional ice classed vessel making the difficult passage with ice breaker assistance for demonstration purposes."
