The Supreme Court Is Taking Up Another Major Second Amendment Case. Here’s What You Need To Know

I think most of us would agree that the plaintiff in this action is really not a nice man at all; "The case centers on Zackey Rahimi — an individual who is “hardly a model citizen,” as the Fifth Circuit acknowledged while siding with him..." He did a lot of things prior to the arrest and conviction that this appeal is based on, that should have seen him behind bars before it ever got this far.
However this is not about His character. It is about the statute that rendered him ineligible to be in possession of a gun, because of a domestic dispute(the case was dropped, hence no conviction) and order of protection, that as far as I can determine He never violated. Taken to it's extreme this statute could be used by someone, you don't even know, that might live 700 miles away from you, to file a restraining order against you. At which point, if You have a gun, You have just become a criminal.
So don't get caught up in Mr. Rahimi's character flaws, I can assure you the main stream talking heads will be shouting them from their bully pulpits, and focus on the law behind the case. Does your State Legislature have the Constitutional Ability to take away your 2A rights on a "Feel Good" law?

The 5th Circuit correctly recognized their role as an APPELLATE Court -- they judged the case on its legal merits, looking only at the law and the process, not the individual. THAT is the role of the appellate courts. It is also the role of the Supreme Court which is our highest Appellate Court.
Most people do not understand the role of the Appellate Courts....
If the appellate court finds that the trial court made the wrong decision for all the right reasons following the correct process, the appellate court must let that wrong decision stand.
If the appellate court finds that the trial court made the right decision for the wrong reasons or by the wrong process, the appellate court must vacate that decision - generally returning the case to the trial court to hear the case again correctly.
Hopefully the swing votes at SCOTUS will avoid being swayed by their distaste for the individual and will limit their consideration to the law and the process.
