California Sues Chino Valley Unified Over What State Calls The District’s 'Forced Outing Policy'

"Attorney General Rob Bonta on Monday announced that the state Department of Justice is suing the CVUSD board over its requirement that parents be notified if their child asks to use a name or pronoun other than that listed on their birth certificate or school records, something described as a “forced outing policy.”"

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel I'm going to get hammered for my opinions on this but I'll write them anyways. I don't agree with the MANDATORY outing of student who what to be called by a different name or pronoun however, at the same time if I have a conference with a parent I should be allowed to use the preferred pronoun and/or name at the meeting. At least half of my students who identify as another name specifically ask me not to use that name but their birth name in the conference. So what happens if I forget and address "Jill" as "Jack?" It's a mess with no clear defined answer or guidance for teachers or administrators.
