All the DoD does is allow medical TDY. They aren't paying for the abortion. They reimburse travel expense for those who have to go out of state to get an abortion. The DoD has never paid for an abortion and does not offer them at MTFs. It just gives travel reimbursement (like any travel out of the area for medical reasons) and then 21 days of leave. That's it. It's not taxpayers paying for an abortion.

The fact that ONE person has this much power and control is disgusting and it's for no good reason whatsoever. Abortion is healthcare no matter what you people think but all that's getting covered is travel out of the state if the SM is stationed in a state that bans it.

Calling Tuberville treasonous is ludacris. The fact that he is hllding his political ground has nothing to do with turning your back or overt acts of trying to overthrow our nation. My gosh...at least learn themeaning of words before you use them!!!!

Treason: "1. : the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family. 2. : the betrayal of a trust : treachery."

You would think that the Secretary of the Navy understood the concept of "acting" Commanders. I don't know how the Navy does things, but the Army we were trained to work one or even two ranks up. We were EXPECTED to be able to step up if our leader went down for any reason.

As an E7 I served as an acting Commander. It was only for a day, but I still did the job - with no drop in readiness.

I spent a cumulative 2 years as an acting 1SG, another 6 months as an acting BDE S2 NCOIC (E8 billet), and a month holding down both a CPT billet AND a GS-13 billet - while operationally deployed in support of SOF - at the same time; all without any drops in readiness (or combat effectiveness).

If the folks who are being required to step up are unable to do so, then it is not Tuberville hurting your readiness, Mr. Secretary, it is your service's PREVIOUS failure to properly train. In other words, YOU, Mr. Secretary, and your Admirals under you, have failed your Navy.

CMSgt Marcus Falleaf put another way, SecNav is A) lying, B) ignorant to the point of incompetence, C) a dismal failure at preparing the Navy for the future, or D) some combination of these.

But regardless of whether he is lying to score political points or just really bad at his job, he just proved he shouldn't be there.
