This is very interesting to say the least! Perhaps this is why there are so many Moons around Jupiter... Could have been a solar system in its own right... What do you think about this?

The movie 2010 hypothesized Jupiter becoming a sun in the sequel to 2001 Space Odyssey.

SPC Michael Duricko, Ph.D they're definitely would be a gravity issue which wasn't discussed in the movie. The Earth's orbit would be affected especially if Jupiter had more magnetic pull then it did before. The Earth is only 93 million miles from the sun while Jupiter I'm sure swings back and forth between 643 million miles so I don't know if it would affect the orbits of the other planets or not within our Solar system.

LTC (Join to see) - People need to understand that Jupiter simply does not have the mass to initiate and maintain nuclear fusion of Hydrogen even with all of its moons added into the equation which in total amounts to nothing. If I remember correctly you need somewhere in the area 15 times the mass of Jupiter to become a brown dwarf star.
