Let us hope so.

More than likely it just opens the door for more hostages being taken for ransom.

MSG Stan Hutchison - How not? They have just gotten positive reinforcement that their hostage taking for ransom works. Take a hostage, get one of theirs and 1.2 billion a head released to them... That is called positive reinforcement in any language.

“The Iranians seem reluctant to give away most of their leverage to restore the nuclear deal not knowing who the next U.S. president will be,” said Ali Vaez, the Iran project director for the International Crisis Group. “Nobody really wants a deal, but they’re still going to talk about it.”

The Biden administration has pledged to revive a nuclear agreement with Iran, but if a Republican wins the 2024 presidential election, Iran policy is likely to experience a dramatic shift, as happened when Donald Trump took office and withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal."...

While I am overjoyed at having 5 of our illegally detained countrymen home safe and sound.... the reality is this... this only serves to embolden countries that do this.

How? We released or dropped charges 1:1 but released 1.2 Billion dollars per head in addition. Granted this is slated only for humanitarian needs but let's look honestly at that country and at their "humanitarian" accomplishments and judge logically and critically.
