People working on climate solutions are facing a big obstacle: conspiracy theories

Communities big and small are trying to rein in climate change. But many people working on these climate solutions are running into a big obstacle: falsehoods and conspiracy theories about their work. So what does this mean for fighting global warming?
To talk about the current state of climate disinformation, we checked in with three NPR reporters who have reported on climate, disinformation and the media — and they can answer our questions: Climate solutions reporter Julia Simon, media correspondent David Folkenflik, and reporter Huo Jingnan, who writes about conspiracy theories among other things.

If conspiracy theories would stop coming true, there wouldn't be so many skeptics. But then again, if climate science was a real science they would look at all evidence and not cherry picking what they want to see.

Rephrasing Gomez's comments to make them accurate - The problems with the far-left idiots is they think that their political talking points should end debate. They feel like they have unlocked some special way of forcing others that disagree and belittle any disagreement as some conspiracy theory. They are the far-left nut bags and not to be taken seriously.
How many times have the climate alarmists claimed some catastrophe is going to happen just to be proven wrong time and time again?
Why is it that the far-left nut bags always claim that climate change is responsible for everything from the snowstorm dumping a foot of snow to it being hot in Texas?
Why do the far-left nut bags see climate change as a cause of everything non-weather related that they want to espouse some ideology on - climate change is responsible for the dog that bit you! Climate change is responsible for you not being able to get a job with your degree in gender studies! Climate change is responsible for a growing number of Democrats thinking that Biden is senile or has alzheimer's?
Is the climate changing? Absolutely. But just like illegal immigration, the left has conflated "climate change" with Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) which is saying that the world is getting warmer and it is solely caused by human activity. If you think that the climate is changing (which it does regardless if humans are here or not), but the jury is out on humans being the sole cause of it, then the far-left nut bags want to call you a conspiracy theorist.
Why are people skeptical? Not for the reasons that Gomez poorly laid out, but because unlike the political claim they were pushing about a decade ago that "every climate scientist says it's real!!!", there are many that know a helluva lot more than he does and aren't blinded by their politics that disagree.

But as the far-left does when faced with facts to contradict their emotional argument, they will try to discredit someone they were singing the praises of previously, just like what they tried to do to Matt Taibbi - they absolutely loved him if you go back a couple of years ago, but when it exposed the 1st Amendment violations by this administration, they turned into the usual rapid pack of donkeys. So too with quite a number of "reputable climate scientists" that have now become "unreliable conspiracy theorists" when they went to the other side of the argument.

SFC John D. - My college senior project was on computer modeling of complex systems for predictive purposes. Computer modeling is extremely accurate between the end points of the data. It becomes more and more inaccurate (exponentially so) the farther you get away from the end points of data collected. It doesn't matter if your predicting ocean waves and hull form vibrations (as I was) or climate change.

SFC John D. In the 'you can trust scientists' department, they want you to believe that the CO2 and other gases released by a volcano during an eruption are only temporarily held in atmosphere and that man induced games stay around much, much longer.

I just know when the Nord Stream pipe line blew up Germany tore down windmill power stations to mine coal. I like the suburban area I live in. I really don’t want to live in a 15 min city. Cookie cutter design. Who decides what grocery story you have? Trader Joe’s or Walmart? What hardware supply etc.

Forgive me for depositing my comment here (PO1 Nagel is afraid of my words). The Climate Crisis IS a conspiracy theory (designed to incite panic among the populace and gain control over them). The fact that they do not permit disagreement (as evidenced by Nagel's canceling my ability to speak) is proof positive that there is no science behind the climate crisis.

I'm not disagreeing that Planet Earth is warming up but it has been for the last 10,000 years and eventually we will go into another ice age (Remember that in the 1980's when they said we were heading into another ice age) in 10,000 more years. Where were the cars and factories etc. back then causing the warm up? Answer: there wasn't. Read the article about Milankovitch cycles. Yes, these are theories but so far there has been truth to it.
