Sarah Huckabee Sanders has lowest approval rating of any Arkansas governor in 20 years

Arkansas Republican Governor and former Trump White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has just a 48% approval rating among her constituents in a new poll, making her the state's least popular governor over the last two decades.
Respondents of the 25th annual Arkansas Poll — which queries residents on their approval of both elected officials and major issues like the economy, public education, and health — notably registered their dissatisfaction with Sanders' administration while she's in the midst of a corruption probe. CBS affiliate THV 11 reported that Sanders' approval rating among Arkansans is far below that of former Arkansas governors Asa Hutchinson, Mike Beebe, and her father, Mike Huckabee, who each polled at 57%, 70%, and 66%, respectively, in the first years of their administrations.
"A volatile economic and political environment is likely influencing some people’s general sense of well-being, in Arkansas and elsewhere," Arkansas Poll director Janine Parry said.

A conservative group, Opportunity Arkansas, found that support for the governor declined from 52% to 45% from the first quarter of the year to September. Emerson College Polling said earlier this month that just 40% of Arkansans approved of the governor.
But not all polls are created equal. The Arkansas Poll, the brainchild of UA political science professor Janine Perry, has become the gold standard in terms of providing insights into political motivation and behavior in the state. Perry documented (and to some extent, predicted) the partisan transformation of Arkansas in the elections of 2010 and 2014, among others. The first marked the year the GOP took control of the Arkansas Legislature; the second saw Republicans, including Asa Hutchinson, sweep all statewide offices and solidify control of the statehouse.
Sanders won the governorship almost a year ago with 63% of the vote. And overall, Republican control of Arkansas shows little sign of fracturing. The Arkansas Poll found, for example, that just 33% of the state approves of Joe Biden as president, while 63% disapprove. Sanders remains far more popular than Biden. But between her relative weakness in recent polls and a newfound willingness to challenge her among some Republicans, the iron grip she appeared to hold in her first few months in office may be loosening."
