Former president Donald Trump claimed Friday that he peacefully surrendered power at the end of his term in office, despite having urged a crowd of his supporters to converge on the U.S. Capitol, where some staged a deadly attack that interrupted Congress’s certification of Joe Biden’s election on Jan. 6, 2021.
Trump’s comments came during an interview with conservative syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt in which the former president was asked for reassurance that he would not be a dictator if he returned to the White House and whether he would peacefully surrender power at the end of his second term.
“Of course — and I did that this time,” Trump said, before repeating his false claims that the 2020 presidential election was rigged. “But I did. I did it anyway.”
Trump’s response omits the fact that he urged his supporters to converge on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, while Congress was certifying Biden’s electoral win. Many in the pro-Trump mob that overran the Capitol that day had chanted “Hang Mike Pence!” in the misguided belief — pushed by Trump — that the then-Vice President Pence could have stopped Congress from certifying Biden’s victory.

The plain fact of the matter is that President Trump didn't have anything to do with the lawlessness committed on January 6th. He told the people at his rally to go and protest peacefully. While he was still speaking there were people assembling at the Capital Complex. You need to take the Crime and Violence tags off this post because they have nothing to do with President Trump.

MAJ Ken Landgren - Ken, it's past the moment for this story. The truth is the truth. If some want to take an exception to the rule, and try to make it the rule, well that's your right in our Constitutional Republic. No Conservative wants to take that right away from you. Now if Progressive Democrats get in power "you will toe the line" or face deprogramming. That's the current Democrats for you. Be careful what you vote for. :)

MSG Stan Hutchison - A lot of people dislike the rich. I never cared for Trump on way or another. From the little bit I've read while he was cocky, he seemed to be a fair person and worked all races fairly. Maybe all he wants to do now is serve his Country.
Like it or not he lost an awful lot of money being POTUS and put up with a lot of abuse he didn't have to so he could serve our Country. Maybe he's looking to serve others now. I won't hole someone having money against them. He's done a lot of good for our Country. Thats a fact. I get it if you can't get past the rich elitist thing.

I do not dislike Trump because he is rich. I dislike him because he is narcissistic, selfish, crooked, and unpatriotic. He only does what is good for him.
He only made $1.6 billion while in office.

The former president made lots of money while in the White House but still left office less wealthy than when he was elected.
