In the state of Tennessee, flashing a holstered weapon would be considered brandishing, which is a crime. Not a wise move in my opinion.

Agreed. I believe he was trying to goat the protesters into foolishness. That they were speaking about guns and right he could easily say the action was just part of their discussion. I am with you and Gene; it wasn't a smart thing to do.

Hopefully you posted that comment without reading the article. Nothing written or shown in that article even approaches the definition of brandishing.

And, before posting, it is also advisable to have some knowledge about your statement, Tennessee has no law that specifically addresses brandishing. The closest you would come is Disorderly Conduct if the weapon was displayed in a threatening manner. Oddly enough Tennessee does have a law specifically addressing displaying a FAKE firearm in a threatening manner.

The level of foolishness displayed by hoplophobes is often amusing.

While I wouldn't be as ostentatious as this lawmaker, I understand the sentiment.

Where I live police are at the very least, 15 minutes from my home. If I'm lucky, it's 10 minutes. I will not allow my family's safety and security to be dependent on the government.

With municipalities, and some states, taking the teeth out of law enforcement, we need to be prepared to defend ourselves. It is that simple.
