Not the first time something similar happened in Seattle.<sigh> In the earlier 70s a similar murder was attributed to supposedly very active Philippine mob activity in the region. I attended the trial one of the days, having known and worked with the folks in that union in Alaska. It was considered to be personally oriented rather than politically aimed at U.S.A. It was connected to prejudicial discrimination in the way Filipino workers were provided for less equally than other cannery employees - which was a fact. They were not in the same union. And It seems the union reps were blamed for not solving that problem. Even, so it was a case of foreign operatives who committed the crimes.

SGT (Join to see) I think that is partly true, at least for those not doing the negotiating. No one could work the first few weeks during negotiations. However, all three unions had to settle before work could start. There was a separate union for the Filipino cannery workers than the rest of us, also a union for the folks on the fishing boats. The company had long been accused of having a prejudicial attitude and resistance to it was useless. The Filipino folks were not provided with the same quality and amount of food, only what they requested but nothing more, and they were not allowed in our mess hall. The rest of us had a chef and were very well fed.<sigh>

I know, let’s open our border to millions of unvetted illegal aliens, many adult males of military age from countries like Syria, Iran, China, you know countries that hate us.. What could go wrong? Any one have any ideas?
