PO1 William "Chip" Nagel As part of a treaty, the United States military promised to protect the Osage tribe from their enemies, and the base, originally called Fort Clark, was renamed Fort Osage to honor the relationship with the indigenous people.

As kind of a side note, I worked in KC helping 3 retail drug stores (one of them was the old Skagg's clock tower store). My favorite place in KC was Stroud's. I really miss that place but my belt doesn't
