Go easy on Gov. Noem. Ranch and farm life are different than city life. Her family made their livelihood on ranching, and dogs are an ancillary part of that ranching. The dog was not suited for the work and was not trainable. Sure, she could have gone to her local animal shelter and offered the dog for adoption, but I doubt those are even found in rural South Dakota. The article (or chapter…I don’t have her book) describes practices that are normal in this setting.. I have had to euthanize horses, but my veterinarian did this via injection. I have never owned a gun, but have nothing against them in the responsible hands.
