Trump Incoherent Syntax
Trump on Tuesday wondered why infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci's approval rating is so high -- when his is so low. "It's interesting: (Fauci's) got a very good approval rating. And I like that, it's good," he said at a news briefing. "Because remember: He's working for this administration. He's working with us. We could have gotten other people. We could have gotten somebody else. It didn't have to be Dr. Fauci. He's working with our administration. And for the most part we've done what he and others -- and Dr. Birx and others -- have recommended." The President continued, "And he's got this high approval rating. So why don't I have a high approval rating with respect -- and the administration -- with respect to the virus?"
Here is a second example on voter fraud: Trump, April 8: “I think there’s a lot of evidence, but we’ll provide you with some, okay? And there’s evidence that’s being compiled just like it’s being compiled in the state of California, where they settled with Judicial Watch, saying that a million people should not have been voting in — you saw that. … I’m telling you, in California, in the great state of California, they settled, and we could’ve gone a lot further. Judicial Watch settled where they agreed that a million people should not have voted, where they were 115 years old and lots of things, and people were voting in their place”.
I examine Trump’s verbiage from a biopsychosocial framework. I rely mainly on his spontaneous speech and that of his incessant tweets. Above is just one of many utterances
Sociology views language as a critical vehicle in the construction of our reality. We learn first our native tongue; and we do so during numerous interactions with others. Language can be powerful and reflects behavioral outputs. Sociologists offer that language can contribute to stability and order. However, during the current US Incivility War the opposite is also valid. Trump and his republican promoters provide numerous examples of division, mistrust, and even hate.
Language also reveals critical information about the self and many others. As an example Trump often boasts and brags about his abilities while at the same time, disparages many others. This discipline also highlights “social facts”. These facts are potent paths to thinking, feeling, and behaving. Social institutions of education are important ways of socializing the population. We even have layers of so-called higher learning. We learn the difference between fact and fiction? This profession of education offers simultaneously formal education and latent concepts. Across the world, education is viewed as a vital asset.
Psychology focuses on cognitive, emotional, and behavioral outcomes. In psychology, we offer that language transculturally involves four “rules: phenology, morphology, syntax (grammar) and semantics. And, the four stages of language acquirement are universal. Clinicians in psychology are also very keen on non-verbal language that reveals more subconscious and unconscious processes.
Trump’s overt use of language, except when he reads a prepared script created by someone else, reveals regressive immaturity. His word choices are poor and his incessant tweeting reveals this as well. He is quite uninformed and completely outmatched in his present role. And in fact, the notion that he is a successful businessman is a persisting illusion. He inherited a significant amount of money from his father. He also filed for corporate bankruptcy six times.
Some observers believe that Trump is a “strategic” thinker. He is not! He processes data at a sub-cortical level. There is no public information that suggests metacognition or executive and moral reasoning. I continue to deem him a clear and present danger to our Rule of Law, our Constitution and our Military.
In addition to his serious disordered personality he reveals himself to be someone who harbors deep-seated inadequacy. His persisting boasting and bragging are mechanisms of overcompensation. His frequent rants and rages reveal this as well. He remains developmentally arrested at a primitive level of functioning. His persisting appeals of entitlement for constant adulation and adoration confirm my findings.
Here is a much more recent example:
"The county has, for whatever reason, also refused to produce the network routers. We want the routers, Sonny, Wendy, we got to get those routers, please. The routers. Come on, Kelly, we can get those routers. Those routers. You know what? We're so beyond the routers, there's so many fraudulent votes without the routers. But if you got those routers, what that will show, and they don't want to give up the routers. They don't want to give them. They are fighting like hell. Why are these commissioners fighting not to give the routers”?
What???
