Shame they didn't cover the three carriers being conveniently out at sea... Or...the financial shenanigans that caused Japan's movement towards war.

PO3 Donald Murphy They covered that the attack failed to achieve its goal of sinking the U.S. Carriers.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - True, but they never fully explained how three carriers with 2000+ crew **IN PEACETIME** got to sea in under 24 hours, with full air wings. Remember, the "Yorktown" miracle was that she was turned around in under 72 hours to take part in Midway. And that occurred during wartime when all hands were on deck, all spares available, etc.

Also, not widely talked about is the fact that we weren't at war with Japan. So the myth that the Japanese were observing radio silence is rather hilarious. To have "gone quiet" would have been suspicious. So they were making normal noises. They were tracked all the way out of Japan. Lastly, look at our economic embargo of them. If you read it page for page there really is no out for Japan. We make all of these demands, yet at no point do we allow Japan to meet the demands.

Thanks PO3 Sherrill...good stuff. It was the accounts of this war and the heroism of this generation that formed the foundation of my worldview and caused me to enlist after completing high school.
