According the NovX website FAQ, the flutes on the bullet achieve hydrostatic shock in the target with the combination of linear speed with rotational speed, which sends material laterally in excess of the speed of sound in wet material. Typically, hydrostatic shock is something rifle bullets can achieve but handgun rounds cannot because of their speeds, but NovX found a way to do it.

These are true I shot stops...The cavitation it causes creates a wound channel twice the size of your fist...Nothing is coming back from a center mass or stomach shot
