I lead with "Have you talked with your career counselor or the Armor Branch enlisted team at HRC? I'm unsure where you got the guidance that 19Ds "Can't reclass without doing KD time".

Due to the huge reduction in authorizations that will impact the MOS until rebalanced to the ARSTRUC TAA 25-29 Manning levels, the Army is forcing the majority of the 19Ds to reclass. Are you sure you're not confusing the restriction on broadening assignments (the majority do require you to have KD time)?

The latest IN/OUT message from HRC* identifies 19Ds of all ranks as being able to transfer out of the MOS and the latest Precision Retention MILPER* has identified 19D as a restricted MOS for enlistments.

Specific to the 19D, the Armor proponent is allowing 19Ds to reclassify as 19Cs (BFV Crewmember) without any additional formal training* and are actively encouraging all 19Ds to look at becoming a 19K or 19C. They even stated that any 19D, even those not in their reenlistment window*, can currently request reclass to 19K/19C.

I wasn’t saying they can’t reclass without doing KD time. I’m saying if I reclass I have to do another 24 months as a Squad/Section Sergeant. That’s a pretty decent delay in career progression when I’ve already done more than enough KD time, and a broadening assignment. But yes I’ve talked to retention and Branch, I suppose the only thing to do is sit and wait. Try to get schools, which is also hard to get approved for schools when “your MOS is dying”. I recently had a packet turned back for that reason
