Good morning, Rallypoint. I started researching Connor Chee yesterday, and I encourage you to spend a little time as well to check him out. Many of us are familiar with the story of the Code Talkers. In 1942, Philip Johnston was reading a newspaper article about an armored division in Louisiana that was attempting to come up with another code using Native American languages. Johnston knew the perfect Native American language to utilize in a new, unbreakable code: Navajo. The concept of the "code talkers" was born.
Connor Chee is a Native American, a highly trained classical pianist, and was recently commissioned to write a series of pieces in honor of The Code Talkers. It's worth the time to find online and give it a listen (I'll post a link on this thread if someone doesn't beat me to it). Here is Connor's take on Jingle Bells.

Listen: Connor Chee's 'Unbroken' pays tribute to Navajo Code Talkers of WWII
As part of a project to record more music by composers of color and women, we recently commissioned Navajo pianist Connor Chee to write ‘Unbroken: Music for the Navajo Code Talkers.’ Listen to this engaging piece now!
