I was amazed at how little evidence of these battles remained when there in the early 70s.

they did lots of clean up. I left there on the 2 Mar 74, the day I left I purchased my last Stars and Stripes. The front page story was a crew building a new hotel in Naha struck an old arms cache with a footing they were driving in the ground, Most of them were killed
