Cryptocurrency is all the rage. How much do the skills & training from a crypto MOS carry over into this new frontier of technology though?

Cryptocurrency and cryptography are two distinctly different things. Crypto currency is DIGITAL money. Cryptography is the art/science of encoding information to make it readable only by those who have the "KEY" (Information to break the code.)

It is REALLY going to depend on the level of Cryptography. I know, from an inside Source, that much of the truly high-speed crypto work is done by D.O.D. Contractors. They are actually employed by IBM and the other tech giants. They tend to be fresher and more up-to-date than what military schools churn out. When their expertise gets stale, they are rotated out. However, your being in the Navy may be at a higher level than what I had witnessed, out in the field.
Back when I was encrypting messages, we did it by hand, then sent it out by Morse Code. I have been laughed at by modern-day Operators.

I was briefly involved with some crypto, and that got me a TS clearance. It was more the painful logistical side of handling the material than anything.
With cryptocurrency I know that very little actually requires hands on. Most of it is all electronic transactions now.
