In Vietnam 1968-1969. Doc diagnosed diabetes in 2008 and having interned at VA Hospital told me I had better get signed up. Took in to the VA, the card given with your name and a specific number when separated from service. Told that card was no good. No record of the numbers or who was assigned the number. VA refused me. No proof I was in Army. I had DD 214 and my promotion, assignment orders, travel orders I had saved and was told anyone could make them up with a computer. They had to have more. What the hell could be more? Showed them a medal I earned and wow, excepted. Anyone could buy a medal in a pawn shop or elsewhere. PissAnts. Now I am 0 %. Even though diabetes presumptive by law, they said I had no diabetes even though my Doc sent them a letter and past year's medical records. I had full insurance (did not need VA help previously) which I was going to lose because of plant closure. Doc was pissed and contacted I don't know who and I get a letter giving me 10%. 2014 I applied for 20% as taking insulin and other drugs for diabetes since 2012. Guess what, denied as I was not taking insulin. I appealed and won as they were liars. I am in Montana. I know one who is in Wyoming 100%, one in North Dakota 60% that are in better shape than I am. I am going to try for higher rate but have not much hope. Other Vets around here feel the Montana VA is trying to drive them away to lower their budget. First thing to get a business promotion is to reduce the highest cost--employees. Keep fighting. Thing is time is running out for us old bastards. The longer they stall, the more of us die. If we die, we are no longer a problem.

When I left the service I requested and received all of my military health records. This way nothing could be lost or denied because of the lack of records. It worked, when I applied for VA disability it was granted based on my records that I had. In fact the approval stated it was granted based on my records. The records acknowledge the injury and all the times I went on sick call because of it. I don't know if one can do that now or not but, if you have a problem in the service protect yourself, now one else will.

Contact your Congressperson. This is unacceptable behavior from this VA office/clinic.

LTC William Gilmore they look for any reason to deny you and if they can't find one they just lose your paperwork. That is exactly what they did to me from 1988 to 2005!

Had to hire lawyer who specializes in VA rules and regulations.. with their help, I received a much higher rating however it did come at a cost and a huge stack of denial letters from the VA.. being aggressive and persistent is part of waiting out the VA but the other huge help (couldn’t have done it without there help) was hiring the lawyer firm to continue the battle with the VA on my behalf.. sadly it had to come to that but was well worth it… just something to think bout…

I applied for benefits for cancer in 2015 from agent orange, denied reason doesn't cause cancer, appealed denied doesn't cause my type of cancer, appealed denied cancer didn't occur within a year of Vietnam, appealed to board of appeals, finally had a hearing this past March, went well , but may tack another year to heard back. They want us to die off so they don't have to pay. Semper Fi, vietnam 1/69-12/69

It takes a fight now days for anything to do with medical thru the VA , You have to be your own Doctor and diagnos your own problem to get help anymore, then they still will put you off as long as possible to get help, I have been waiting on a MIR at the local VA hospital for 3 months now, seems that they have a shortage of people to preform such procedures there. ask for outside care and now they told me it mite take another 3 to 4 weeks to get that done. I have now gone thru my VSO and now waiting on a response back. Vietnam Vet 67 thru 70 . 100% still being treated like a second class citizen there.

The other thing is if you qualify for your case to be expedited, they know how to go bout it and what qualify’s for expediting your case…

Maybe that's why I'm still 0% after 3 years of claims and appeals.
