Looks good, choices of color and finish from the factory. FN has a great reputation. Is it worth another $1K for a few more rounds in the mag?

Again, a matter of personal preference and the situations that one is likely to encounter.

I bought my FX45, not because of how many rounds it has in the magazine, it was because it was an FN product.
As well as, my 509, handgun too.
But just the other day, I bought a Springfield Prodigy, not for how much it cost, or how many rounds in the mag, but for it was a double stacked 1911.
And, shooting it yesterday, it was worth every penny, it also brought one other thing I never shot with a handgun, the bull barrel in a 1911.
Very good combination, I never expected, a double stacked 1911, who would of thought, I sure didn't.
I'm not saying it's better then any of my other handguns, but it played a tune, as it went across the range, dinging the steel plates. Something like an old cowboy western song, riding towards the sunset.

I had the FNX45 tactical but sold it and picked up a HK USP45. It holds 12rds in the magazine but they offer a 17rd magazine in 45acp
