In my younger years , I use to hit the bars in force ! Nothing like having a good time with friends , booze ,and beer. Over the years we learned one thing that help us avoid that major Katzenjammer ! Before going home ,make sure that you eat something. Our favorite place to go was the Waffle House . Keep in mind though ,depending on how much variety of what one one drinks . Then this greasy spoon can become the " Awful House." A tried and true method. But, then again ! Don't drink as much ! Ok ! Are we ready for PT now ? " FIRST CALL " ! LOL !
Word of the Day : April 15, 2019
katzenjammer
noun KAT-sun-jam-er
Definition :
1 : hangover.
2 : distress, depression, or confusion resembling that caused by a hangover.
3 : a discordant clamor.
Did You Know ?
Have you ever heard a cat wailing and felt that you could relate? Apparently some hungover German speakers once did. Katzenjammer comes from German Katze (meaning "cat") and Jammer (meaning "distress" or "misery"). English speakers borrowed the word for their hangovers (and other distressful inner states) in the first half of the 19th century and eventually applied it to outer commotion as well. The word isn't as popular in English today as it was around the mid-20th century, but it's well-known to many because of The Katzenjammer Kids, a long-running comic strip featuring the incorrigibly mischievous twins Hans and Fritz.
Examples :
"I drank too much that night and woke up submerged in a post-wine katzenjammer the next morning. My head was buzzing, and every fiber of my body slowly shriveled and wilted as the alcohol exited it." — Mac Lethal, Texts from Bennett, 2013.
"The highest purpose of bar food, in all its cheesy, starchy, pinguid, deep-fried trashiness, is to sponge up as many bad decisions as possible before you wake up with a katzenjammer." — Mike Sula, Chicago Reader, 22 Mon. 2015.

Katzenjammer Kids 1918 Policy & Pie - Early Animation
Good evening my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell and thank you for sharing the word of the day for April 15, 2019. In this case the noun katzenjammer.
R. Crumb comics Fritz the Cat was ribald parody of Felix the Cat. Fritz the Cat was a "hypocritical swinging college student cat raises hell in a satiric vision of various elements on the 1960's." Fritz the Cat certainly was an example of the third definition of katzenjammer "a discordant clamor."
I drank hard from 1974 to 1989 and am thankful I haven't drank to get drunk since 1990, by the grace of God.

2. 1981 1 January Mummers parade -Steve, Dev, Monica and Julie.
3. Fritz the Cat description.
I remember as a child, being introduced to the early cartoon series the Katzenjammer Kids

Little sleep and no coffee makes me feel like I have a katzenjammer the next day.
