Thankfully CWD has not reared its ugly face in GA. Our wildlife management folks have strict regs regarding transport of deer from out of state.
Just when those of us that have been released from not being able to donate blood, due to possibility we have something similar roaming about with CJD.
What next? Cicadas!

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel I wonder if they didn't cook it well enough or can the prions survive the temperatures of an oven or bar-b-que grill.

That is a good way to put it, "You can't kill what is not alive." Prions can survive damn near anything since they aren't a living thing, just a misfolded protein. A prion is a misfolded protein that can induce misfolding of normal variants of the same protein and trigger cellular death. Prions cause prion diseases known as transmissible spongiform encephalopathies that are transmissible, fatal neurodegenerative diseases in humans and animals.

Fortunatley for us this is only found in a few counties in North MS...No cases near us for now. We eat deer meat two to three times a week.
