25 April 1951: After a heroic four-day defense of Hill 235, 39 survivors of the British Gloucestershire Regt. made it to safety.
Their casualties were enormous: 141 killed (plus 12 Belgians and 5 Filipinos) and 1,169 wounded, missing, or captured. By preventing a communist breakthrough, they saved the ROK 1st Inf. and U.S. 3d Inf. Divs. from being destroyed.
