Taxpayer dollars? Gift the flag to a private Confederate historical society and call it a day.

Or sell it on Ebay, and make money.

I believe in the preservation of historical artifacts, and I believe this flag qualifies. Sell it on ebay and someone could cut the flag up and use it for diapers.

Since I'm not a resident of South Carolina (and therefore don't have a dog in this hunt), I'm considering this to be a popcorn moment.

So everyone screamed and yelled they wanted that flag taken down. Poof, it came down. What did they think was going to happen to it, it would be stored away in a closet somewhere and forgotten? This was the writing on the wall. All this does now is give the people that started this whole thing more to scream about, because now it will cost the taxpayers of SC. to take care of it. And now that it is down, the race relations and racial crime rates must be at zero! I mean wasn't that their entire platform, that single flag, prompted and promoted all of the racial issues in that one state. They rushed to pull it down, to appease people, but I don't think they did much forward thinking for after it came down. The events that took place in the Church where 9 souls were lost, had absolutely nothing to do with that flag. It had to do with a misguided young man, whose mind and thought process was not working correctly and who will pay for the loss of those 9 lives. The families of those lost will bear the heart break for the rest of their lives.
