I believe that one approach to this would be active outreach to those at risk. Vets can better interact with other vets and in doing so, are more apt to listen to them and help them connect to resources that are needed. There are many veteran-owned organizations around the country that do this. They are successful. These organizations do this on their own, and sometimes with donations. If the government agencies and programs would offer support, these organizations could do more. The track record of the government programs is not very good, it is time to let the little guys have a chance.

We would all like a solution... we have to start by "decriminalizing" suicide and encouraging people to go for help
