Is it appropriate for RallyPoint from a 1st Amendment perspective to "Disable Comments"?
This linked discussion caught my attention:
When I say the language - "Comments Disabled".
I suspect the "thought police" of RP will shut down this question, but lets give it a go and see what happens.
So, I will asked the question anyway...................

First Amendment

Perhaps the comments were disabled simply because the Sweepstake ended. Comments were not removed, the thread was not removed.

Correct. There is no suppression of comments or anything of the like. When a sweepstakes is over, the thread is locked.

The first amendment only covers what Congress can do:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or
of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition
the Government for a redress of"
As far as I know, RP is not part of Congress, so they can do whatever the hell they want. It is their site.
