One of My pet peeves also and while on the Police Department I have taken people to court for that and up to $1,000.00 fines have been applied. I've stopped a person for throwing things out a car window and made them go back and pick it up, At home I have trash pickup (included recycle) and always have a litter bag in my car, NOTHING is ever discarded improperly by Me or My family members. I have NO tolerance for the improper disposal of trash !

I agree. I live near the beach and when I see folks leaving trash or cans lying about. It makes me wonder if they are ignorant, or lazy...or both. Surprisingly, most of the trash is left by people who are well off...and I am not sure what that means.

Reminds me of a fishing trip while in Alaska. We drove 3 difficult days, mostly in 4 wheel drive, to a remote lake for some isolated fishing. We pulled into what looked to be a good camp site. Before we even unloaded, we had to do a police call. Filled up 2 large Hefty bags with trash, beer cans, and assorted other matter. Sickening.
