This other Veteran has brought Meth, Fetenal, Cocaine, and various other drugs into my community. his "friends" have been stealing from all of the neighbors, destroying property, and running his apartment through the hudvash program like its some sort of Motel. Who should I be talking to about this situation in the VA? I believe this other Veteran Needs some mental help, and rehab for the Obvious drug problem. With all these negative people coming around, I am doing my best with my Military Bearing, and keeping my cool, but even I have limits. 6 months of this, and nothing is still done about this guy. Who do I talk to? how can I get some Help? Or should I just pack my bags, and move 2 weeks from my hip surgery? I don't think I can keep my Bearing after surgery. could someone please give me some insight?

You don't.

You talk to the police.

If your location has a veteran's court, you can let them know he is a vet and may be going through some stuff and see if veteran's court is a viable option.

But this is straight criminal. This is NOT a VA issue and his prior service does it excuse his current behavior.

Call the cops.

roger that, The Police has been notified on many accounts of this already, and the landlord has been to court, but we are still here dealing with these people.

PVT Skyler Brown I would talk the VA about YOU, then.

If you are worried about keeping your cool, talk to them about therapy and/or anger management for YOU.

Remember that we cannot control the actions / behaviors of others. All we can control is how we react / what we do.

Don't let his criminality get you hemmed up.

Nope, it is absolutely VA, but probably not approachable through them. It's run by hospital staff. I made a separate reply with some more detail. The VA's own example of top priority for free housing was a convicted meth cook. You better believe it's a VA issue.

It's not your responsibility! Bringing drugs into the community is not a VA issue... Contact your local law enforcement agency. Law enforcement will know what to do - including getting him mental and drug abuse help.

PVT Skyler Brown - Not your problem if he overdoses and dies. That's his choice. If that's what he wants, let him do it. Is he a friend or family member? doesn't seem like it.

If he's causing you THIS much stress, then YOU need to go get help. Next time you witness him doing anything illegal call the cops immediately.

SFC (Join to see) - I am at the point I no longer care to help him. Having the Smell of Meth coming into my apartment Twice now has me convinced he needs to just go. he has a Court date on the 17th, and I provided 7 videos, and some photos to the team opposing him in court to have him evicted, and to face charges etc. Hopefully it gets resolved on that court date, and we can all move on with our lives. Thank god for Cameras.

If he's in VASH, he has to see a VA social worker on a weekly basis. That would be through the VA Medical Center in your area. You are going to run into privacy issues. Local law enforcement might be your best contact. Very carefully, of course.
Last I knew, VASH actually favored convicted veteran felons. Law abiding women who served were the lowest priority. The only bar nationwide was arson, and only a few states excluded registered sex offenders. Personally, my observation has been that VASH is everything wrong with the VA, but if it's doing you some good, I am happy to revise my opinion. Slightly.

I went through hud Vash to get this apartment, and graduated the program after my Shituation settled down. from my Experience they did weekly/bi weekly visits, but once my situation changed for the better, and my score on their paperwork went up, they stopped seeing me as frequently. I don't think this guy is even going to see the rep anymore. He has been feeding her lies, and it took me going and having a meeting with her for an hour to discuss what was actually going on.The Landlord is in the process of eviction, and the Hud Rep was in the way"at first", but since our discussion she has had a change of direction from what I gather. I heard that many people who have used the Hud Program are a rough crowd, and that often times the reps have been abused. Im not 100% convinced they are Angels, but they did me a pretty good service getting me into an apartment, and making sure I had food, and etc. I am very self sufficient so I didn't need the program for long. Maybe my experience is better because of that? I'm not sure.

Glad it is working for you. I looked into it when I was homeless with untreated noncombat PTSD. Could not even get on a wait list.

SrA Cecelia Eareckson - that's pretty messed up, I thought they had a great program, but everyone's experience is different, and I keep hearing bad things about it the more I talk to people.
