Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)

We took over the main ECP to the Baghdad International Airport and surrounding patrols upon arrival for OIF II. Between 24+ hour shifts on the ECP, or 12 to 16 hour shifts patrolling Route Irish and the surrounding mahalas, I was responsible for training Iraqi nationals who had volunteered to serve in the Iraqi National Guard or Police force.

First duty assignment. Was a MK19 gunner and driver for squad's M113. Sent to Armorer School by company command and assigned to the arms room as our unit armorer.
