On June 8 1967, the USS LIBERTY (AGTR 5) was attacked in international water by Israeli forces killing 34 Americans and wounding another 171. Seven out of every 10 crew members was either killed or injured.

A too-frequently overlooked low point in Israel's relations with the United States.

I was aboard the USS Liberty when the ship was attacked by the IDF on June 8, 1967 and serve my shipmates as Historian of the USS Liberty Veterans Association.
I just wanted to thank you for remembering our fallen shipmates.
It's a courtesy lacking in Members of Congress.
