Hello just a quick question I can’t find any regulation in tradoc about taking personal property in AIT with out signings a counseling or any form of paper?

Just for more context a drill came in everyone room while we at chow and took people electric devices. I’m not mad about it just curious on the regulations and I assumed you need some form of paper work?

Also side question. if a person took your phone and not giving it back that’s theft but if a drill does it’s fine?

The first part has been addressed, so I will address the last sentence.

No, your drill is not stealing your phone. Securing. Maybe even confiscating. But you WILL get it back when it is appropriate - after graduation at the latest.

That is not theft.

Now, if your DS took JUST your phone and is using it for themselves and never ever gives it back, sure. That's theft. But I GUARANTEE that is not what is happening, here.

Jesus wept! Its not OJT, you are there to learn your MOS and hopefully survive the 1st 10 min in combat/dangerous situations. I seriously doubt you have anybody on your stupid phone that can do that! It's not like they throw them away. When you went to Basic, did they not take anything that wasn't on the list away? Illegal crap got thrown away and the rest was bagged up till graduation or you earned privileges? AIT same- you have to earn privileges, rights are limited!

An NCO posted this, go look at it: TRADOC Regulation 350-6 para 3-19. Some words of wisdom from an old guy that has adapted with the times. How are you using your phone? They took all of our electronic devices away during most of my training and I was totally segregated from females except during KP. Not telling you this because old times were better and I will admit I use my apple watch and iPhone daily as an RN, but some of how they did things reduced distraction from becoming a good soldier. Thus the question how are you using your phone. If it is to be a better soldier, it is a great tool but if more distraction, a little time from electronics is always good.
