Thursday, August 10th is Aviation Night at the NBC World Series, with a special flyover from B-29 Doc prior to the 6:00pm game!
A restored B-29 Superfortress, and one of only two still flying, Doc is a Wichita gem. We are excited to have both Doc and Connie Palacioz, one of Doc's original riveters, as part of Aviation Night.

Sad that there are only 2 left flying. They were pieces of deadly art that have to be seen to be appreciated.

Doc is manned by descendants of the original crew and Rosie the Riveter aka Connie Palacioz placed the original rivets and there is a panel remaining of her work.

The hard part- and mostly a highly expensive one are the Props. I believe they need to be balanced like a Medieval sword when made. Plus the engines and such are difficult to replace. Parts for some planes of that Era are sometimes either foraged or newly forged / made. An Art that is slowly dying out.
Any imbalance in the blades of the propellers will throw the the plane into the shakes . Let alone rip the engine from the plane causing structural damage and loss of the plane.
