I have been reading these posts where Veterans were sharing how good they were at shooting. Well, I wasn't very good, and with a pistol I was abysmal. But I remember the first time my Best friend took me Deer Hunting. I got the front quarter panel of a Jeep Cherokee, a 120 year old Oak tree, and scared the bejeezus out of some guy in an orange vest. Good thing I was a Mortar Man.

The deer was here, there.... everywhere. I suppose you don't need to worry about dressing it :P thanks for the Chuckle.

I would have to go with the 81 mm. If the deer was on the fringe, you just have to pick out shrapnel. If use the 4.2 inch. Well usually there’s just a crater. Your comment made me laugh.

When I could not qualify on my 9mm, I knew my time was up in the army. It was quite humbling for a former combat arms soldier.

Haven’t picked up a weapon since 1968, let me rephrase that ,haven’t picked up a weapon with the intent to harm someone since 1967,let me re-rephrase that, the weapon was most times a single shot weapon (freakin jamming M16 ) our opponents had fully automatic (non jamming AK47s) luckily I acquired a .45 (through non access channels) don’t know if I ever hit anything on returning fire ,but damn that felt like cowboy shootin, Welcome Home Brothers
