Nice Camp Bonifas picture.

I will send you a PM with my email address. Send me some of the pictures and a list of the units that you know about. In addition, considering that he was in Augsburg in the late 50s was it an accompanied tour? It probably was since it was 3 years. If that is the case, it would also be helpful to know your parents name and your aunt and uncles, if any so that school records can be checked also.

Your grandfather's picture is pretty much old-school bad-ass warrior! Master-blaster and Pathfinder patch on his sleeve! Someone that well and truly filled the boots and to be totally proud to have in the family tree!

Depends on the amount of time that has passed since ETS. Since you mention the fire then the veteran must have been a WW2 or Koren vet. The mechanism is the DD-149 (http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/forms/eforms/dd0149.pdf). If you have copies of orders that has weight. Stories and photos may help, but I would not hold out much hope unless these come from veterans with substantiated records. The big word here is "substantiated" ... he-said, she-said really does not carry much weight. Visit your local VSO and see if they have someone with the background ... and good luck!

Thank you very much and he served from 1942-1974. I worked on this with VSO's before and just lost willpower when he died and I PCS'd away from home. I have with my time here in Korea and having felt a need to start again I hope I can gain more ground this time in his honor.
