Besides graduating from Annapolis, being first in his class of 243 lieutenants at the Basic School, being a platoon and company commander and winning a Navy Cross, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts in Viet Nam, he was a committee general counsel, congressional staffer, official in the Defense Department, SecNav and senator, he is a NY Times best selling author, has the screenwriting credit for "Rules of Engagement" and he even has a bleeping EMMY.

But the thing that is so awesome is that he resigned as SecNav in protest of what the SecDef asked him to do. It blew me away at the time. Who does that? The story is that the SecDef Carlucci asked him to misrepresent facts to the Congress. He laid it on Carlucci at the time. Awesome. Specifically he was asked to misrepresent the usefulness of a new class of Navy warships.

I REMEMBER WHEN THIS HAPPENED.

The SecDef asked SecNav Webb basically to -lie- to the Congress -- to downplay the effectiveness of a new class of frigate that they no longer wanted to build.

Asking Jim Webb to lie under oath is not not not going to work.

Senator Webb is exactly what we need.

I read Senator Webb’s Bio. In the part about his tour in Viet Nam he doesn’t say much about any of the actions where he won his Navy Cross, his Silver Star or the two Bronze stars. You can tell when the Navy Cross was awarded because the Citation says two grenades were thrown, and his book notes that. The second grenade badly wounded his knee and some years later after a difficult and lengthy rehab where the knee didn’t respond well enough to treatment, he was medically retired.

So…he won 4 awards for valor in less than a year. That is amazing. His Navy Cross and Silver Star citations are available online, but I have yet to find out anything about his Bronze Stars.

Funny thing in his bio, he was pulled out of the bush for being wounded a second time. He protested to his regimental commander, who said: “You can cry crocodile tears as big as horse turds, but division wants you out of the bush.”

-How-on-earth- can ANY of you say you would vote for that bombastic POS Trump or DOCTOR Carson, or ANY OF THOSE IDIOT GOP CANDIDATES when Senator Webb is in the race, I will never understand.

Or any of the other Democrats either!

"The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to First Lieutenant James H. Webb, Jr. (MCSN: 0-106180), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving as a Platoon Commander with Company D, First Battalion, Fifth Marines, FIRST Marine Division (Reinforced), Fleet Marine Force, in connection with combat operations against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam. On 10 July 1969, while participating in a company-sized search and destroy operation deep in hostile territory, First Lieutenant Webb's platoon discovered a well-camouflaged bunker complex which appeared to be unoccupied. Deploying his men into defensive positions, First Lieutenant Webb was advancing to the first bunker when three enemy soldiers armed with hand grenades jumped out. Reacting instantly, he grabbed the closest man and, brandishing his .45 caliber pistol at the others, apprehended all three of the soldiers. Accompanied by one of his men, he then approached the second bunker and called for the enemy to surrender. When the hostile soldiers failed to answer him and threw a grenade which detonated dangerously close to him, First Lieutenant Webb detonated a claymore mine in the bunker aperture, accounting for two enemy casualties and disclosing the entrance to a tunnel. Despite the smoke and debris from the explosion and the possibility of enemy soldiers hiding in the tunnel, he then conducted a thorough search which yielded several items of equipment and numerous documents containing valuable intelligence data. Continuing the assault, he approached a third bunker and was preparing to fire into it when the enemy threw another grenade. Observing the grenade land dangerously close to his companion, First Lieutenant Webb simultaneously fired his weapon at the enemy, pushed the Marine away from the grenade, and shielded him from the explosion with his own body. Although sustaining painful fragmentation wounds from the explosion, he managed to throw a grenade into the aperture and completely destroy the remaining bunker. By his courage, aggressive leadership, and selfless devotion to duty, First Lieutenant Webb upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and of the United States Naval Service."

"at this point, what difference does it make?" Hillary Rodham Clinton
My first thought was that CNN would be the clear winner of this debate. Then I thought well, maybe Saturday Night Live will get more traction out of the debate. But then it hit me...if either Hillary or Bernie does more to each other than googly eyed hand holding and collegial chanting of the Democratic Party line, Donald Trump will be the winner.
