Sunday, October 13th at 9 AM vets will march at the War Memorials in Washington DC to get the government to open the memorials. If you are in the area and want to join other vets to get the government to stop holding the memorials hostage here is a link to more information:

Death benefits have also been suspended during the shutdown. Good indication of how service and sacrifice is valued in Washington these days.

I actually participated in a few of these events, I also had some friends from the freedom riders escort a bus of WWII vets to some of the memorials as well, it was well received and well deserved. I probably never felt more proud about my service than I did on those days of supporting those vets that came before me and led the way for what I accomplished and have today because of them and their sacrifices.
