Well, we certainly weren't going to use the same playbook as we did in Iraq.
They figured they'd try doing nothing and see what would happen.
If correct, they'd look like geniuses.
If wrong (they were), they could say they didn't waste time/lives/resources in a quagmire.
Brilliant, if you agree that is a good course of action.

I am sure she was convinced the muslim brotherhood would take over, like they did in Egypt, and all would be good. The problem is the muslim brotherhood was/is corrupt and wanted to hoist sharia law on people. Egypt responded, had a coup and arrested the muslim brotherhood members and most are in prison now.

This is the lazy left foreign policy strategy. Stir the pot, leave, see what happens. If we don't like it, just keep walking. As bad as it was. Libya under Khadaffi was better than Libya now. Unfortunately due to the vacillation and hand wringing the same could now be said in Syria. As bad as the Assad family has been, they are better than what is going on now. The Russians know that and are acting to make that the case. We are now bystanders in the region.

Hasn't that been the plan of the government for many years? Just play by ear and wing it instead of having a good solid plan that politicians will just screw up anyway?
