What are your thoughts on the Combat vehicle crewman uniform (CVC) cleanliness?

I am Currently a 91B Vehicle Mechanic and I believe that the purpose of the coveralls(CVC) worn by soldiers is to keep the soldier safe and clean. To be able to uphold professionalism while wearing the ACU uniform. Do you think that the coveralls(CVC) should be just as clean and have the same professional look and requirements as the ACU. The regulation on the matter is very blunt on the cleanliness of the (CVC) uniform. What are your thoughts? You can reference the (CVC) in: (AR 670-1 Chapter 11, DA PAM 670-1 Chapter 11)

Perhaps things have changed, but in my day the CVC uniform was to prevent you from suffering from burns, where the mechanic coveralls (a different uniform) were for dirty work.

SFC Hmm I could of been mistaken thought the CVC uniform was the same as the coveralls closest thing I found resembling them. It is an issue we are having that they are trying to enforce our coveralls to be just as clean as the ACU uniform and I disagree, and threaten to counsel soldiers who do not meet their standards of cleanliness. I wash them every weekend tried the can of coke trick simple green etc. they look the same just smell a little different and better.

The CVC was never a daily uniform for us. I only wore it in the field or at the range when on a Bradley crew. Our mechanics wore mechanic coveralls (to date myself, these were BDU woodland pattern).
Neither item was clothing bag, so if it became unserviceable it went back to CIF.
If you have sufficient issue, you might try your installation's laundry facility. They may be better equipped to bring it to Army standards of cleanliness.

SPC S they are two separate pieces of clothing, I was issued both from the time I transitioned over to the M1 series of tank in the late '80s. CVC for gunnery exercises and combat; mechanics coveralls for maintenance. CVCs need to be maintained as such to maintain the flame/fire retardant properties while the mechanics coveralls should be cleaned so as to not look like ass. I know it's a difficult thing, to do at times, and seems you have a command climate that doesn't accept that sometimes stains don't fully come out..recommend you FIDO and keep maintainin!!

Um, speaking as a 19K, I can tell you that the CVCs are flame retardant uniforms for firing main gun rounds.... in conjunction with our nomex gloves and fire-proof hood(baklava). So yes, they are held to the same standard as regular ACUs.
I'm pretty sure you are talking the coveralls, although I don't know the "real" name for those.

I have been in for 9 yrs. I believe there's a line, stains until not serviceable must try to get clean decreaser n not smelling like jp8. You can still be professional in appearance . If stains/smell won't get out, then Turn them in to cif with damaged statement from commander n get reissued
