Just curious if people are sticklers like me when you watch a movie involving any branch of the military and Hollywood takes liberties to enhance the appeal of the movie by not sticking to realism. Example would be: Not reloading ever, Air Force is always the secretive branch, Training just different things like that you know that your able to spot vs. most civilians would blindly believe is true.

The reason behind that is so that our potential enemies won't figure out our military strategies and weaknesses.

That's actually an old misconception. I forgot where I read it but it's out there in the land of the Internet.

So there are countries out there that think we have infinite ammo mags and that berets are meant to be worn with 3 inches of forehead showing? Man are they in for a surprise when they attack us!

SSG Lorenzo Fleming is correct to a point, it used to be that they did not wear correct ranks and the like for that reason to keep the enemy "blind", but with the Internet now and the partnerships that we have with other militaries, that is not really needed any longer, I think it is done now because Hollywood is lazy and does not really care about those details, where they did not have to care before, they just don't care now. It is easier for them. There is almost always a military advisor to the set when the movie is shot, but again I believe they are lazy.

SSgt Paul Esquibel Yes. Seems like every movie ever has Navy saluting indoors, and uncovered. Drives me nuts.

Yea, it's the basic things that they seem to get wrong allot of times, like I remember watching G.I. Joe the second one and at the end the female LT hair is like way out of regs, small things like that are very troubling I think for most of us...lol

Are you really trying to apply military realism to shows like GI Joe!?!
I understand having issues with movies that are trying to reflect real military scenarios, but I think it is just an exercise in unnecessary frustration to get upset about movies like this.

I was watch Fear the Walking Dead the other day and was annoyed that the Soldiers had velcro rank stuck to their Patrol Caps.

Yeah, the little things bug me. Wrong ranks, wrong forms of address, wrong slang, incorrect gear. But I also appreciate it when they go the extra mile(or to standard depending on your view) with things like weapon handling, I have actually noticed that people in movies are now looking and acting like they have been through a firearms course recently.

I agree there are some movies and even TV show's that might have some things wrong but they seem to be getting better on realism of the small aspects that those who served or are in law enforcement would notice. For me I have seen in some films whether action or military related stances, movements things like that have been set up to be more realistic which is always a plus, unfortunately for me I'm just one of those guys that notices allot things in movies, in the theater I always know when they change reels just one of those things, it doesn't take away from the movie for me it's probably just that active acknowledgment of your surroundings I guess. Thanks for the response very much appreciated.
