This week marks the 11th Anniversary of the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  I know for me personally, I try to spend time reflecting back on what I did and those I served with.  I can remember the nervousness, excitement, lack of sleep, water and food and of course the unendless miles spent in a HMMWV.

For those of you that also took part in the initial invasion, what is that you remember about those early days?  Does this week stand out for you as well or is it just another week?

Having being there in the days before KBR in 1990, and then in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 (5 total), I remember stepping on the ramp of the C2 in Ramstein. It kind of brings perspective to how brief life can be.

I knew we would end up (I would end up) back in the Middle East as the rhetoric was amped. The hardest part, was to reassure the wife and kids that I was going to be back. I am glad that I came back, but remember those whom we lost and those who only partially came back.

God bless our Nation and our brothers and sisters.
