I think military service tends to bring out the leader in us all. That being said, there are opportunities to lead everywhere...from participating in service organizations and volunteering for charities, church, civilian careers (whether in a supervisory position or the career itself, ie. law enforcement), etc.

I'll say I'm always looking to improve - myself, situations, others. I use the little amount of professionalism, tact, respect, and knowledge (in that order) to help and mentor others when I see necessary. No stripes necessary.
