Can you be more specific PFC Pamala (Hall) Foster? Are you looking for gift ideas, food ideas, decoration ideas, etc.?
FYI Martinsburg WV, VAMC is where I go for much of my medical treatment.

Caroling never fails to bring a smile, costs nothing but time, and should get plenty of volunteers. Try a local church.

Sneak in a real Christmas dinner. (Comfort food) Ask staff if food may be brought in.
Contact local scouts and ask if any want to complete badge requirements/service hours.
Decorate their room/common area
Collect music, magazines, books and bring them for them (there's only so much time one can watch t.v....
See if you can get a choir or music group to come in and play.
Wear something festive when you visit something silly that will make them smile.
Board games and puzzles
Get children and or adults to make cards or letters for them.

My kids and I will be going out to the woods to pick out a tree next weekend, then go sledding later. It is a tradition they love, and costs us next to nothing.
