This NCO risked his life to protect his Jewish Soldiers while a POW during WWII. This is living the NCO Creed and the Army Values, even if they didn't officially exist back then.

Righteous Among the Nations is a pretty high honor, the Israelis don't present it often, especially as of late. Word on the street is that he is being considered for a Medal of Honor.
