I try every year to make it a special time for my family. It's never easy but the effort must be made.

I'm a little confused! Why would being a disabled vet cause you not to enjoy the spirit of Christmas? Or to look forward to it. Christmas is a time of joy to celebrate Christ and be with our families. To do for others who are less fortunate then ourselves. Walk through a Shriners hospital and see the smiling faces of children even knowing what lies ahead for them. Children can teach us so much. We shouldn't look in the mirror and feel sorry for ourselves but embrace what is ahead and enjoy to the best of our abilities this thing called life!

MSgt (Join to see), some people get depressed around the holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas...
I have a military friend who lost two of her family members to suicide; during the holiday season.
There are any number of reasons, why people cannot or do not look forward to Christmas.
I was exceedingly depressed last Christmas; and so far, I am not looking forward to Christmas- this Christmas.

You missed my point! Remember there are always folks who are worse off then ourselves! When I see children who don't have much to look forward to smile and embrace life, how can I look at myself and think oh poor me! We are all dealing with demons! I'm not trying to belittle anyones problems but to open our eyes to more then ourselves.

I get into for my family. Them celebrating is my gift. My Kids are both in their eary 20s and attend school and still live with us. Wife and daughter love to decorate. I enjoy having a reasonable exchange of gifts. All too often Christmas ends up being nothing more than binge spending and getting in debt. I like having the decorations up, exchanging a few gifts in the morning and Christmas Dinner. I also enjoying riding around at nights and looking at the lights.
