Today in John Lennon is shot to death outside his Manhattan apartment building. The loss of John Lennon affected a lot of people in America and around the World. We know that he was a talented Musician and Visionary. More Importantly, he was a Vessel for Peace. As strong as his influence was, how much of a difference could he have made in the World today?

SPC Andrew Griffin Probably none. Today's youth are more interested in invective-ridden noise pollution than they are good music.

Just IMO.

SPC Andrew Griffin For the record, I'm not just referring to Rap. Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber et al.

All of it's garbage.

He would have zero influence. That goes for MLK Jr, JFK, Eisenhower and so on. Our generation fails to be inspired by anyone.

ZERO Influence? I disagree with you! and MLK, JFK, and Eisenhower did make a Difference! They were Catalyst for Chance and Purveyors of Promise!

SPC Andrew Griffin - I think my response came across wrong. All of those people absolutely did make a difference in their time. Your question asked how much influence he would have today...and I said zero because our generation is more inspired by themselves.

He was a talented innovative musician. He would have probably continued to record and would be an activist for peace. Afer 9/11 I reflected on his music; Some might say the messages are naively idealistic; but the message of his music made me think spiritually and hopefully among the horrors we experience and/or see in the news. His message which first came out during Vietnam days, still resonates today. RIP John. I wish we had good pop musicians today. With a very few exceptions, pop music today is terrible; especially hip-hop; softer R&B is not like your grampas R&B either; it always sounds off-key!
