For all the folks that went to Fort Benning for OCS...who remembers Doc. Campbell & his dreaded history test? I had a random OC email me some of the sample questions from the test asking for help and I swear my anxiety level went through the roof!

Those last 3 weeks of OCS History were easily one of the worst periods of my life....Anyone else remember the test being so bad? Only officer that went to the OCS program within the past 7-10 years would have taken it with Doc. Campbell!

I remember Dr. Campbell well. I was in A Co at OCS in 2008. I am actually back at FBGA now as an ABOLC tactics officer and interact with the combat arms OC's on their Branch run day. Your friend is correct - Dr. Campbell is still giving the candidates anxiety during the history lessons. I looked up the current test study guide and its actually a lot better than the one we had - just his foot stomping the floor pointing at the red text of the Powerpoint, lol! Hope your friend does well - If he's Armor then tell him I'll see him soon. :)

Definitely still remember the fact that your commission was dependent on one crazy test which was not really testing you on your military history knowledge but on military writing. I was lucky since there were recycles that had experienced with the test and that help me to get a 93% first time go. I still have info if that OC needs help.

It's in ako. Search the phrase infantry school oes. I'll do some digging on my own and hopefully post some help soon.

Nancy Sglazer l will have to search. Not sure if I have it anymore. If I find anything I'll get back to you. I remember information was stored in ako when I was in the course.

I found some slides that can help. Go on ako, type infantry school in the search field and you will see a file marked infantry homepage. Click that and it will lead you to slides that could help. However, it's just to get you familiar with the curriculum and history test.

I d0n't remember that there was one! I went through OCS in 1967. Maybe there wasn't one then.

I edited the initial post sir! I'm guessing that anyone that didn't attend the course within the past 7-10 years would have taken it. You certainly went through a far more rigorous program!

I heard that OCS is now a 90 day program like it was in WWII. It was a 6 month program in my time.

That's correct sir. Provided you don't recycle on any of the tests / assessments then its 90 days.

1LT (Join to see) - It is clear that instead of volunteering for the Vietnam war I should have waited for the Gulf War then I would have had shorter times at both OCS and combat deployment!!!:-)
