Thanks to everyone! I just got off the phone with both DEERS and Tric-care and found that in fact, I am still eligible until I turn 60 to sign up for Tricare Retired Reserve and the cost was $957.44 for a family premium as compared to our current plan at $1400+ and a huge individual/family deductibles! Even the DEERS/Tri-care reps agree that the ACA new payments are rediculous!

You should be able to get TRR (Tri-Care Retired Reserve). I just signed up for TRS (Tri-Care Reserve Select) and had to familiarize myself with their system. My former CMSgt just signed up for TRR. Its not cheap, but its probably cheaper than other plans. Tri-Care is managed by United Health Care and depending on your area, its might be called different things, but its still Tri-Care.

I would call Tricare and ask them because as a retiree you qualify for Tricare.
