I'm going to retire next year and have questions about the area, the job market and good/ bad areas to live. Any insight or responses are welcomed. Thank you.

Although I live in Houston, there are plenty of RP members in San Antonio who can help you out. Good Luck!

I don't know too much about San Antonio except "The Alamo" and "Seaworld" are both there as well as Fort Sam Houston which houses Brooke Army Medical Center.

A good friend and mentor of mine is currently stationed there. He may have some decent insight. LTC (Join to see), any thoughts or suggestions?

I know this is a little late but I have been stationed here in San Antonio since late 2004. I love the area and it has really grown in the past 10 years. The job market is booming. The North/Northwest side is probably the best area to live but I live on the Southwest side and really like it. There is plenty to do and healthcare is good too. San Antonio Military Medical Center (AKA BAMC), Audie Murphy VA, and several other hospitals are in the area. If you have any other questions, feel free to post them here or message me.

These would have been my comments as well....there are a number of nice areas to to live around SA, the North/Northwest being the most desirable. The job market in South Texas is probably one of the best in the US.
